2023 Call for Proposals

As academic librarians we are always facing new challenges that are framed as threats to our careers.  One of the most significant developments in recent years that has the potential to transform library services is the emergence of artificial intelligence in a form that is highly accessible to all with a computer.  Is this the end for us, can we adapt as we always do, or will this all come to nothing?  We are inviting proposals for presentations that investigate the potential opportunities and challenges of AI for academic libraries, including, but not limited to*:

  • Automation of library processes

  • AI and reference service

  • AI and academic integrity

  • AI for collection development and curation

  • Using AI for data analysis

  • Ethical considerations in using AI

  • AI and intellectual freedom

Time slots for presentations will be 30 minutes, presentations should be 20 - 25 minutes long.

Please submit your title and abstract to Emma Hill Kepron at e.kepron@uwinnipeg.ca by March 17.  Notifications of successful submissions will be sent out by March 24.
